AI readiness assessment
AI readiness assessment: where AI adds value in a portfolio company.
An AI readiness assessment examines whether a portfolio company has a useful workflow, usable data, accountable owners and controls for an AI project. Meo Advisors starts with a self-score to surface evidence gaps, then scopes authorized review with the team. The result guides a conversation about implementation; it is not a benchmark or an assurance.
In short
- Start with a business workflow, its owner and the evidence needed to change it.
- Use the self-score to separate documented foundations from work and open questions.
- The self-score is a conversation starter, with no benchmark or promised return.
What is an AI readiness assessment?
An AI readiness assessment checks whether a proposed AI workflow has a clear business purpose, usable data, appropriate access and an operating owner. Meo uses it to identify what could be built and which questions need answering before engineers connect systems or release a change.
AI readiness assessment is a review of the business, data, system and operating conditions needed to turn a proposed AI use into working software. Our working definition.
The service supports private equity value creation. A public website cannot establish internal data quality, permissions or workflow performance; those questions need evidence and authorized access.
Take the AI readiness self-score
Use the questions to make your current evidence and open questions explicit. The interactive summary counts your selections without weighting them or assigning a maturity level.
For each question, choose whether you have documented evidence, need work or need to check. The summary counts each answer equally. It applies no benchmark, weighting or pass threshold.
Choose an answer for each question, then summarize. Answers stay in this page and are not submitted.
Where can I find an AI Risk Assessment template?
Use the copyable worksheet below to start recording the risks and evidence for a proposed AI workflow. It is an illustrative planning aid; the questions and controls for a formal assessment depend on the workflow, data and authorized scope.
| Area | Question to record | Evidence and owner |
|---|---|---|
| Data | What data may the workflow use, and what restrictions apply? | Record the source, authorization and accountable data owner. |
| Outputs | Which outputs require staff review or escalation? | Record the review rule, exception path and accountable business owner. |
| Systems | Which connections and access permissions are needed? | Record dependencies, access approval and the system owner. |
| Release and operation | Who approves release, monitors the workflow and can roll it back? | Record the sign-off, monitoring and rollback owner. |
Technology dependencies can be scoped alongside IT due diligence. For sensitive health information, a HIPAA risk assessment is a separate authorized engagement.
What happens after an AI readiness assessment?
Agree which workflow to pursue, which evidence is missing and who can authorize access. A scoped implementation then needs release criteria, an operating owner and a measure with a dated baseline.
- Document the proposed workflow and the business decision it should improve.
- Resolve missing evidence and permissions before connecting data or systems.
- Agree staff review, testing, sign-off and rollback before release.
- Assign monitoring and maintenance to the customer’s team, Meo or both.
